The Office of Council Member Sandra Ung is looking for a small group of hardworking and motivated interns to fill her District Office located in Flushing.
Our office welcomes students of all majors, especially those who are interested in government, politics, or social work. Interns will gain first-hand experience in local government operations, constituent services, special events, and other district-based projects.
Interns at the district office will have the opportunity to improve their research abilities and learn how to interact with constituents by assisting with inquiries revolving around government issues and agencies. Interns will be provided the opportunity to attend meetings, prepare constituent correspondence, draft letters, and graphic designs, answer phones, and update the database.
Interns will receive for the $1,200 stipend after the 100 hour minimum requirement is met.

▸ Assist in maintaining office procedures, routine correspondence, and handling telephone inquiries
▸ Respond to a variety of constituent inquiries and resolve issues efficiently
▸ Perform other duties as assigned by the Intern Coordinator to support office operations

Can I apply if I am not of Asian descent?
As a non-profit dedicated to serving the Asian American community, this program is open exclusively to applicants who identify as Asian American, as defined by the U.S. Census.
How long is the program?
The program runs for six weeks, from early July through mid-August. It can also vary depending on each experience. Check each application page for further details.
How many hours do I need to complete?
Interns are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours over the course of the program. Scheduling will depend and vary from each experience.
Do interns receive compensation?
Yes, interns will receive a $1,200 stipend upon successful completion of the program.
Do I need to provide my own transportation?
Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site.

Can I apply to multiple experiences?
Yes, however you may only be selected to participate in one.
Can I apply if I am under 16?
Interns must be at least 16 years old to participate in the program, unless specified by the experience itself. Some may require an older age requirement.
When can I expect to hear back?
The China AIDs Fund board will review and finalize participants by the end of March 2025.
Can I get a scholarship after completing the internship?
Yes, top performers based on their post-experience evaluations may be eligible for an additional $3,000 scholarship award. Be sure to give it your best!
